Season of Creation 2026

This years Theme for the Season of Creation is

“Living Water,” inspired by Ezekiel 47:9, 12

The Season of Creation is a time to come together in prayer and action for Creation

as we contemplate the 2026 theme of ‘Living Water’.

​

“Holy God, whose Spirit hovered over the waters at the beginning, we gather as part of your community of all creation, thirsty for your grace. We give thanks for the gift of water, the veins of our common home, that sustains the cedar and the whale, the pasture and the city. We are grateful for the local waters that nourish our homelands and our fellow creatures. We give thanks that in your well-watered garden, every drop is a sacred testament to your love.”

The gift of living water brings life to dead areas and restores fertility to damaged or barren ecosystems. Through living water comes healing; but in order to receive new life, we too must step into the water and become part of God’s river of life, taking part in the healing of creation.

 

To become part of God’s river of life we must cherish, protect and conserve the precious, life-giving water we have been given. There are many actions we can take, to look after the water, so essential for our lives and the whole of Creation.

 

Take the time during this Season of Creation to consider an action that you and/or your household can take to look after our water and use less, an action that can become part of your daily life contributing long-term to ‘God’s river of life’.

 

Paper waterdrops were available in church this weekend and are still available.

Please use it to record your action, prayer or promise to conserve and heal our water.

 

Bring your waterdrop back to church during this Season of Creation

from next weekend and place it in the font.

 

Together our waterdrops will form a part of God’s river of life healing ourselves and Creation.

 

Example: Some thoughts about actions to conserve water and nature

Use water in a bowl when ever you can instead of letting taps run.

Reuse water – after washing/cooking veg etc use water (cooled)

to water plants indoors and in garden.

Take shorter showers.

Use ‘eco’ settings on washing machines etc if you have them.

Fix dripping taps and leaking toilets.

Only heat as much water as you need to use at the time.

Increase your capacity to collect rainwater
